This model focuses on a "teaming" philosophy. Students are
assigned a core teacher and stay with that teacher all day
with the exception of a 40 - minute specialty class during
the middle of the day.
Each teacher's class is divided into two tracks. The early
track attends school from 8:00 AM until 2:15 PM and the
later track attends from 9:15 AM until 3:30 PM. The greatest
advantage our extended day model offers is a block of
smaller class size time every single day (morning students
from 8:00 - 9:15 am and later students from 2:15 - 3:30 pm)
for teachers to help students receive quality reading and
writing instruction.
We are very protective of this time and consider it the most
important time during a student's day at school. During this
period, there are no interruptions whatsoever. Please help
us protect this valuable instructional time by not calling
to speak with teachers or students during this time. With
this uninterrupted time and small class sizes, teachers are
able to focus on improving student skills in reading and
writing.
During the middle of the day, from 9:15 AM until 2:15 PM,
teachers have their entire class together. During this time,
announcements are made, we hold assemblies and students will
have their recess, lunch, library, art and gym time. This is
the time that grade level teams teach math, science and
social studies.
